French Mountaineering School: the mountains, step by step!

Beautiful views and spectacular landscapes in store for hiking fans! In total, 60 marked itineraries offer 300km of walking paths in the lakes area.

All mountain guides at the ORCIERES 1850 Village Club are approved “Ambassadors of Les Ecrins National Park” They are committed to offering quality circuits, have excellent knowledge of the site and are respectful of the environment.

Practical and technical advice, choosing an itinerary to do with the family, rental of specific equipment, etc. – the Orcières 1850 Village Club guides are available to answer your questions and make your stay as easy as possible.

Hiking

• Levels : From stroller – green level (300m altitude) to experienced hiker – black level (over 1000m altitude). Hikes recognised by our guides and by ordnance survey maps.
• Duration: Day trips.
• Place: departing from the Orcières Village Club on foot or by car, depending on the itinerary, on marked paths and off-road, scree, tricky passages.
• Supervision : certified mountain walking guides.
• Equipment: hiking boots (from size 36) and rucksack provided for hikes.

Walks

• Levels : From stroller – green level (300m altitude) to walker – blue level (500m altitude max). Walks recognised by our guides and by ordnance survey maps.
• Duration: Half-day trips.
• Place: departing from the Orcières Village Club on foot or by car, depending on the itinerary, on marked paths.
• Supervision : guides.
• Equipment: hiking boots (from size 36) and rucksack provided for walks Flora & fauna trails with our guides

Excursions

Programme of excursions - visiting and exploring the region with guides (with or without surcharge depending on the outings). Some examples of excursions: Serre Ponçon lake, the citadel of Sisteron, etc.

Mountain bike treks

Mountain biking addicts, fans and enthusiasts, whatever their level, can enjoy wonderful treks where they can discover the superb landscapes surrounding the resort.
Activity reserved for adults, teens age 16 and up and children over 11 as part of their club’s activities.

• Levels : from beginners (200m altitude), to sporty hikers (up to 1000m altitude).
• Duration: half-day or full-day excursions.
• Locations : Depending on your level, the activity can be done on rolling paths or trails or on any type of ground.
• Supervision : Guide with state certificate in cycling.
• Equipment: mountain bike, helmet and protective gear supplied for treks. Beginners’ course at the resort to learn about mountain biking

Mountain biking and hiking with peace of mind

Day trips: leave your worries behind! Our children’s coordinators can look after lunch for your children registered for kids’ clubs. And you can take a picnic with you (to be booked the day before at reception).

Registration

You can register for mountain biking and hiking activities at the Mountain Area in the Village Club from Sunday to Thursday, 12 noon to 12.30, 1.30 to 2pm and 5 to 6pm the day before the activities take place (subject to availability and weather conditions).
